Frequently Asked Questions (remember, the only silly question is the one not asked!)
0) Q: Where can I find information about the coin design?
A: Please look at the official README.md file on github here
1) Q: I've downloaded the windows wallet, but I'm not earning coins?
A: By custom, coin generation is not automatically turned on in the wallets. However, this is easy to do, and learning how opens the window into finding out other interesting tidbits about the coin. But first things first: Go to the help menu in the upper left corner of the wallet and select "Debug window", then click on the "Console" window. At the bottom you will see a line where you can enter a command. Simply enter "setgenerate true 4", substituting in how every many CPUs you want mining. If you do not specify a number, all available CPUs will be used. To turn this off just enter "setgenerate false".
A few other cool commands I want to point out, but you can find the complete list here.
"getinfo" returns various information about the program, how many connections you have, current mining difficulty level, number of blocks found for the coin, etc.
"getmininginfo" return repeats some of the "getinfo" data, but includes information on how fast your machine is mining, total network hashrate, the number of mining processes you started, etc.
"getpeerinfo" displays the IP addresses (and a lot of other stuff) for everyone you are currently connected to.
Note, if you get a "Method not found" error, you mistyped the command!
2) Q: What about those free coins you promised!
A: During the launch, I will be giving away free YACCoins to people who contact me. I will need your YACCoin receive address of course. I'll start with 10 blocks worth (10,240 coins) to the first person, and slowly decrease that as more people join, shy of being spammed by folks. Please only send me a request once. You will be earning your own coins quickly. Update: Still giving away 1024 coins to new users!
3) Q: What mining pools support YACCoin?
A: No public ones currently, but we are working with one and expect it soon (maybe 2/18/2014)
4) Q: Is there a MAC OS client available?
A: Yes! A Mac client was posted on Feb. 18th. Alas, I don't have a Mac, so can't test it, but it worked on the developers machine...
5) Q: What is the relationship between YACCoin and YACoin.
A: Nothing at all. In fact, I wasn't even aware of YACoin until well after YACCoin started development.
6) Q: I want to help spread the word! How can I?
A: Tell your friends! Twitter about it... Facebook it... use those social media apps. Also, if you are lucky and have some excess coins, feel free to donate to our "Giveaway donations fund" at DkY38cyuV2XScqZqAnwwXku18bkTkCU8jT
7) Q: What pools, exchanges, and other social outlets support YACC?
A: Please see this link, it is the official repository: YACC Fact Sheet
8) Q: I started downloading, but its stuck at block 12345 (pick your favorite block number), what do i do?
A: If you have a single connection, just try restarting the wallet, you should get a few more and things will progress. If you have a good number of connections, say 3-8, try waiting 5 minutes and see if it makes any progress, it likely will. Restarts are not normally needed, but once in awhile stuff happens...
